A journey through the history of one of art's geniuses
"Michelangelo - Santo e Peccatore” is a production by Sky and Quoiat Films, written by Filippo D'Antuono and directed by Chiara Battistini. For this documentary, Centounopercento recreated four of the six versions of the tomb of Julius II, located in the Roman church of San Pietro in Vincoli, seamlessly integrating 3D modeling and VFX.
An impossible challenge: Michelangelo
This engaging project provided the opportunity to test our skills to reach the impossible: Michelangelo. Thanks to the contribution of experienced architects and specialists of the cultural sector, starting from Frommel's studies on Michelangelo’s artwork, we utilized Unreal Engine 5 to model three of the never built projects of the tomb of Julius II, such as the final version located in Rome.
A fundamental aspect of the 3D reconstruction of the mausoleums was the digitalization of the statue of Moses, created by Centounopercento with the support of the Kainon Foundation. The statue located in the Roman church of San Pietro in Vincoli was scanned and integrated into the virtual mausoleums. Furthermore, Centounopercento was in charge of the creation of the VFXs featured in the documentary.
